Journal Club: vitamin D for HCV

Vitamin D deficiency has been shown to alter susceptibility to viral infections like influenza, respiratory tract infections and HIV.  It also may play a role in chronic liver disease!  Studies show that vitamin D deficiency at the outset of HCV treatment can affect outcomes.  This article aims to determine the in vitro potential of vitamin D to inhibit HCV infectious virus production and explore mechanisms of inhibition.  Click on the link below to view article:
