Definition: post-transplant lymphoproliferative disorder

Post-transplant lymphoproliferative disorder (PTLD) is a lymphoma that often arises in the first year or two after liver transplantation.  The etiology has been linked to prior infection with EBV, and the diagnosis should be considered if a patient has constitutional symptoms and lymphadenopathy in the post-transplant setting.
