Definition: Gaucher liver disease

Gaucher liver disease (an autosomal recessive condition) occurs due to deposition of glucocerebroside in the macrophage system.  It can cause hepatomegaly (+/- abnormal LFT), splenomegaly and thrombocytopenia, so keep it in your differential diagnosis, particularly in the Ashkenazi Jewish population.
