Definition: nodular regenerative hyperplasia

Nodular regenerative hyperplasia (NRH) is a common cause of non-cirrhotic portal hypertension and can be found in cases of PBC, HIV, SLE, CVID and hematologic malignancies. The approach to treatment includes addressing the underlying cause if known, and can incorporate modalities used in cirrhotic cases (ie. beta blockade, TIPS, diuretics etc.).
