Clinical Pearl

If a patient is diagnosed with ischemic hepatopathy (ie. shock liver) and is found to have hypoxemia, think about hepatopulmonary syndrome.  Below is a link to a 2006 article in Gastro. that details as such.  Just under half of 44 patients with various cardiac abnormalities and shock liver met criteria for HPS.
