Definition: milk thistle

Milk thistle (silymarin) is a popular homeopathic remedy for chronic liver disease, and although it is not regulated by a governmental authority, it is generally deemed safe by most hepatologists.  It may have mild anti-inflammatory effects, though on its own is not known to cure any acute or chronic liver disease.
